Something About Me

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

Today is my last day of work at this company. I will be working in a new company from Monday onwards. In fact I shouldn't say new company, it's actually my previous company. Yes, I've decided to rejoin my previous company after several consideration and considerations.

Looking back those past 20 months with this company, I am really in my most comfort zone than ever from 9am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. It's kind of peaceful and easy yet 'boring' work life... I thought I never has deep feeling towards this company, the boss, colleague and the workplace... I thought I will never miss here after today... But but, I think I started to miss everything here. Haahaa... no wonder the saying said the grass is always greener at the other end.

Photo taken with my boss and peers in my team. See my colleague in dark red shirt, she is my 'introducer' to this blogging world ... Last year, she has once told me few times about blog of this baby and blog of that baby, ever since then we both addicted to blogging badly. Another short story between me and her, we should have knew each other when we were 13-18 yrs old but we didn't. We were from the same high school (but not from the same class) and same batch for the year but somehow we never know or even seen each other during that 6 years. Only get to know each other when we both start to join this company 20 months ago. Our colleague cum friend relationship growing rapidly as if we have known each other for 20 yrs... Probably this is called fate arrangement. I believe in People come into your life for a reason, season or a lifetime. Pei Sze, don't miss me too much ya.... haha... Anyway, I will definitely miss u for being my 'office neighbour' ~ those moments we sat side by side every 9am-6pm, our daily tea-break date without fail and everything....

The farewell pressie and card that they got me... I love it so much.

My 'Last snack' ~ my company used to distribute snack (sometimes cake, bread, biscuit and others) every morning. Though I don't really like to eat what they give, I will always remember and miss this.

My workplace.

Bye Bye. My work and life journey move on and continue from here ..... I shall sail to the new harbour bravely to start another new chapter in life. Wish me all the best!!!

Gathering at Ah Tin's place

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

Last Saturday night, my best friend cum chi mooi - Ah Tin (Note to QY, ah tin has personally agreed that u can greet her as Ah Tin instead of aunt, so it's ok and don't feel bad about it. ) invited all of us to her new house…

She treated us a dinner at Kingsbay restaurant, we then proceed to buy Haagen Daaz ice cream at Queensbay mall before heading back to her warm and cosy house, which is only 5 min drive from my place.

Photo taken at her place that night.....

When I look at this photo, I felt like I was looking at little ME for the same eyebrow (99.99% similarity) , similar eye shape and size, same round face and complexion, same hairstyle and fringe, and more importantly is the LOOK at the first glance. My mom always said QY resemblance me a lot, she even claimed that seeing QY is as if seeing another little version of ME to grow up for another round after 30 ++ years. I somehow agreed with her, it's like I was given another chance to see 'myself' growing up again. May wish to retain and 'pass down' those good and sweet memory of my childhood life to her; and will open more opportunity to her to learn anything she is interested (be in ballet, piano and etc) which I had missed when I was small.

This is ME when I was 12 years old

She is playing with the duck duck displayed in the hall. She tried her best to change pose after each shot. Sometimes semi-squat, cross her leg and etc.. Is she has potential in modeling? I wonder....

Finally, she stand straight besides Seow Voon.

Hugged Ah Tin tightly. From the photo, can tell how cheeky and evil this girl is.

Enjoying the Haagen Daaz ice cream at the breakfast bar with Daddy. She loves chocolate and ice cream, as much as mommy. On the other hand, she is also like cheese, maggi mee, peanut butter, as much as daddy.

Played with the bubbles that maternal gong gong bought for her from mini market.

3 of us had our dinner at Pastasia on Sunday night before we watched the movie ~ Transformer at 9.45pm. QY enjoyed the show so much for 2 hrs till 12 midnight. This is the 3rd movie that she watched with daddy and mommy.

A night out with Qian Yi

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

Yesterday after worked, mommy and Qian Yi spend some ‘mommy & daughter' time together at Queensbay Mall while daddy has away for some function at night.

Nowadays, I love and enjoy to go shopping with QY rather than shopping with hubby… . She is big enough and able to give comment on the things that I choose and wanted to buy. For instance, she will select and take the skirt that is hang on the rack and say to me :” Mommy, u like this one or not?” , "Mommy, this one nice or not?"

Most of the time, u can hear her saying thing like ~ “Mommy, I like this shoe”, “Wauu, so expensive huh!” , “Mommy, don’t tough the thing, auntie will scold u..” , “Mommy, buy ice cream for Qian Yi, Qian Yi want to eat..”, “Mommy, u cannot eat ice cream, later u will cough..” Hahaha, I really enjoy her companionship very much. One of my best friend once said she hope to have a daughter so that one day, both the mommy and daughter can shop all day long at the shopping mall… I guess I have realized and fulfill her dream and also, most of mommy’s dream.

I know I won't have much spare time for her from mid-Aug onwards, thus I appreciate very much every hour, minutes and second that I could spend with this little cutie from now on till then. Have a list plan of activity for her such as visiting the book shop more often than before, playground, some colouring activity and etc....

Good bye to ''chu chu''

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

QY has bidded goodbye to her 1st best friend (pacifier) a month ago.

Ever since she is born, we have introduced pacifier to this new born naughty baby who likes to cry non-stop at mid-night. Nothing can stop her from crying, except the pacifier can do a good job sooth her down…. Yes, I am totally aware of the ‘side effect'(like teeth not growing nicely and etc) of having a habit of 'eating' a pacifier but do we have a choice? Thereafter, pacifier or we called it çhu chu’ has followed her day and night, night and day from few days old till last month (2 yrs old and 9 mths old).

The whole incident happenned when mommy decided it’s time to ‘destroy’ her pacifier from her life. During the dinner time, she was there with me at the dinner table. I took her pacifier and dipped into the curry and asked her whether she still want to have the chu chu.. She burst into tear immediately when seeing her beloved best pal has chili sauce… I explained to her that the chu chu can no longer be 'éaten' and must throw it away. She shook her head and pledge not to throw it away. I felt so pity for her but still, I acted firm and throw the chu chu into the dustbin in front of her…. She cried and cried very sad…

That night, she slept without her chu chu… She can't even sleep and kept on asking for milk before she can finally fall into deep sleep. Few days later, she can finally survive without the chu chu anymore...

This is a picture of her with her best friend when she was 2 months old.

Her vocab ability

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

QY can speak both English and Mandarin. Daddy doesn’t know Mandarin, so he feel the importance of chinese and always like QY to learn and talk in Mandarin at young age. He also support the idea of sending her into chinese school when she is 7 years old. As for me, I do feel both language is equally important and it’s never too young to start any language as they tend to absorp and learn fast when they start talking. If possible, I would like her to learn up the Hakka dialect from paternal gong gong and teow Chiew from maternal gong gong. Both hubby and myself can't speak our own dialect, so we imagine how wonderful it will be if QY can learn up this 2 dialert from gong gong..

Back to the topic, QY is a cheecky and talkative kids and sometimes I get so shock and surprise by her level of understanding of certain 'çritical' word, eg :-

Scenario 1
Since few weeks ago, she will tell me : “Mommy I am sad” whenever she get scolded by me or anyone. She even has her sad corner at ah mah’s house. Whenever she get scolded, she will run and sit in front of the fridge, cross both her little hands and head face the floor… When I approached her asking what had happenned, she will show me her saddest face expression and answer me : 'I am sad…'. I don't know how to react but laugh...

Scenario 2
Yesterday QY followed Daddy for a short trip to Taiping. At night, Daddy was telling me that QY has lost her appetite on milk consumption (which is very rare as she is a milk lover) .

Mommy : 'QY, tell mommy why you never drink milk?'
QY : 'Ït’s not my fault.'
Mommy : 'Then, whose fault?'
QY : 'Daddy….'

Mommy and daddy laughhhhh....

Scenario 3
One morning few weeks back, she has bad mood after wake up from her sound sleep. Upon entering my mum’s house, she get angry and frustrated as cannot open the door.

QY : 'I will kill you then only u know.'

I really shocked to hear this sentence, and has thereafter forbidden her daddy to say this word again….

Another Tag ~ SAHM or FTWM?

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

This is the 2nd tag from Tiffany whether I want to be a SAHM (Stay at Home Mother) or FTWM (Full-Time Working Mother).

As for me, I never think or dream of being a SAHM for now or even the next few years, reason is as simple as below :-

1) In this modern and ever changing environment, I think it’s essential to have a job in our chosen career in life. Anything can happen anytime anywhere to anyone... Anyway, I would think that a woman can be a good mother or even better mother even though she is working.

At the workplace, company has corporate goal and we employee has our own personal goal, written in the so called Annual Performance Plan. One thing in common is both the corporate goal and the personal goal should move to the same direction. Here, same thing in the family life, we can keep both family goal (such as better lifestyle, bigger house, luxury motor vehicle, good and expensive school for our children and etc) and our own goal together (work to have an income for living, job satisfaction/recognition, career goal and a lot more). Just to ensure both of the goals are not conflicting with each other and they are moving towards the same direction.

Ok, so for me, it’s more like to choose whether I want/wish to become a Fixed hour full time working mum or Flexi hour working mum…I am currently a Fixed hour working mum from Mon till Friday, 9am to 6pm, and I hope or targetted to become a Flexi hour working mum by another few years time down the road or whenever the time is right. Being a Flexi hour working mum, not only I can still work and earn and thus financially independent, I can also spend more time with my family / child. Always be there for them as and when they need me. Sound wonderful and perfect?

Tag ~ How did he/she piss you off?

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

This is actually a long overdue tag, tagged by a friend of mine ~ Pei Sze . But I don’t think it’s ethical way to write on the topic behind his back. Heehee… and I think this should not be the right channel or place for me to elaborate further on topic like this which only involve 2 of us in life. Of course, there are time he piss me off or I piss him off and we normally talk this out face to face and both of us know that deep in the heart but still, I just can’t convinced myself to put these into word and posted here. Sorry ya, Pei Sze, I decided to drop this tag.

Anyway, I would like to share and talk about the way we get along with each other since the day we knew each other 12 years ago. Hmm… talking about marriage life, I know some people really sacrified a lot for the sake of maintaining a good happy marriage life. I do agree that when 2 person married, they are completing each other and has thus become 1. But at the same time, we also cannot deny the fact that we are still the 2 unique human that have 2 brain, 2 body and etc physically. That is why there are ups and down along the long journey of love life.

For our case, combining into 1 simply means we put ‘Family’ as our top concern/priority when comes to making any big and new decision which may impacted 3 of us. Other than these, we support or rather, do not stop/interfere the other party from enjoying the way we like to live / pursuing our goal in life / hobby or interest and etc. We never thought of try to change the lifestyle that we used to have (before married) and enjoy.

In short, key words for us in getting along well with each other as husband and wife are communicating, listening, respect and understand each other. Don’t ever try to control or take charge on the other party life. There are couple towards ”King-controlled family” or “Queen-controlled family”.. Some people may like this idea but sorry, it is definitely not ME.

Choose the one you love and also, love the one you choose.

Saving Virtue

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

I started to instill the saving concept on QY's little mind since few months back. I would think it's parent responsibility to teach our child how to handle money and saving seems to be a habit worth developing when young.

Every night after going back to our own house, I will give her some coins for her to save. Now, she will automatically run to save it into the piggy bank whenever I give her the money. I even explain to her that after the money is full, she can use this saving money to buy books, toys, chocolate and even can go to Genting Highland. (To her, Genting Highland is a place of heaven where she can enjoy all sort of car ride and have fun). Let her make choices on purchase she can make.

Hopefully she will learn and realised the importance of having a saving habit and appreciate money when she is getting older. I guess once she is a saver since young, she will always be a saver for a lifetime.

As the saying goes ~It's not how much you earn, it's how much you can save.

Our weekend at KL & Genting Highland

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

Our holiday ended so fast. But 3 of us really love and enjoy being together for 3 days and 2 nights.

Saturday
We were slightly behind our own itinerary, supposing to start our journey at 6am as we planned to have the yummy dim sum at Fu San, the popular dim sum shop in Ipoh. But we didn’t make it. Sigh .... Reached KL around noon, we took a short rest and shower at my best friend’s house before we proceed to The Curve to have lunch at O'Brien sandwish shop. Both Celest and QY warm up very fast and started to play together even though it was almost 4 months they didn't see each other.

In the evening, we drove down to Starhill to have our long-waited Japanese buffet at Jogoya as planned. There is a vast variery of food, ranging from Sashimi, seafood, sushi, fish, desset and etc. We ate till surrender but 3 of us really enjoyed the food so much. AlThough no time limit is imposed for the meal time, there is limitation on our human stomach.

QY pose herself in front of some food counter. After few shoot, she asked me to give her the camera and instruct me to stand here and there and she start to take photo for me. She even squat down, sit on the floor while holding the camera, try to capture her mummy most beautiful pose makes a lot of people who dine there amused and laughed.

Sunday
We proceed to Bangsar complex for dim sum. This is one of the best dim sum I have ever had in my life. No regret for not able to eat at the Fu San on Sat morning as my friend said the dim sum here is more tasty than the Ipoh dim sum. All of us including the 3 kids enjoying the egg tatt, porriage, and etc. I also shopped for some clothing for QY at Mothercare, managed to get 2 tops and 2 skirts.

We then heading toward Genting Highland around 3.30pm and reach there around 4 sth. This has been QY 3rd trip to Genting Highland since last Oct’06. Nonetheless, she was as excited as if it was her 1st trip. Upon reaching the hotel lobby, she keeps on saying :"I want to go to Genting Highland". Only realised later that in her little mind, Genting highland is here ~ the little vehicle in the Paris-Genting Tower.

Daddy bought her the whole day ticket, and she spend hours on this particular vehicle drive, as well as the bumper car. Unlike last trip (she almost cry after the bumper car ride), she is brave enough to drive the bumper car alone and she even managed to make friend with one of the boy who is of her age. The boy help to untighten the belt after the ride and want to hold her hand on their way out

Monday
Daddy bought her again another full day pass to let her enjoy her last ride. We left Genting Highland around 2.30pm after we had our Bak kut teh lunch.

Genting Highland, see u again end of these year!!!

Meaning of Qian Yi's name

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

I was tagged by Ping Li on naming our child. I actually wanted to write one about the meaning of my daughter when I read on other people’s blog on naming their baby even though no one tag me. But just keep on delay and delay till today…

Let my memory flew back to year 2004. When we first found out we were having a girl in May’04, the honor of naming our beloved child (Chinese name) fallen on me as hubby doesn’t know Chinese. When I was young, I always question my mum why given me such a common name, so I’ve determined not to give my child a common name in which there will be 2 or 3 person having the same name in one class. Just not hoping the history were to repeat on her.

I know how important and meaningful of a 'name' to a person as the name will follow her for life time and thus, I took this 'task' up seriously. Done all the searching from school magazine, newspaper and dictionary to try to look for a nice and suitable name but still, don't have any particular favourite name in my mind.

Two weeks after delivered her in mid-Sep'04, my mum help to go and consult the Fate Analysis master by letting them know the exact time, day and year of her birth. The name master suggested few name like 陳 乙 萱 ( don’t quite like 萱, my mum's middle is xuan too), 陳 妍 彤 (don’t know why, don’t like this name), 陳 姵 伊 (don’t like 姵, a bit old-fashioned), 陳 芊 如 (sound ok, but….). At last I decided to rearrange those name and come out with a new combination ~ 芊伊. I loved this name very much and this is the first gift that I selected for our daughter. Overall, this name suit her in every aspect. It represents smart, hard work bring success, good luck, successful and good future.

Next is to think for a Christian name. At first, I suggested Gloria as I like this name since I was young. But it will be Gloria Chin if to combine with her surname, sound like Gloria Jeans, the name of the coffee café. Sound funny and also, quite hard for the older to twist their tounge to call out Gloria. Other name that have been suggested are Isabel, Tiffany, Shermaine and so on so forth. Several discussion were going on and finally, we decided not to add any Christian name in her birth cert. Let her choose the name she likes when she is old enough to select for herself.

The entire baby naming process closed when we submited her name ~Chin Qian Yi to IC (Identity card) department end of Sep’04.

This weekend

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

Daddy help to babysit QY in the Saturday morning while I was away for something else…. He claimed it’s an easy task to babysit her as all he did is to turn on the TV and DVD and both the father and daughter sit down and enjoy the show for hours… Both of them share few common interest, top on the list is watching TV show.

At night, we attended hubby’s Indian colleague engagement dinner in a school mall at Bukit Mertajam. It was an eye opener for us as we never witness or attend Indian friend’s engagement or wedding ceremony. They have a grand decoration on the stage, host and witness by a ‘Sami’ (monk), some blessing tradition from both side of parent and close relatives and photographing session. All the guests were served with the Indian banana leaf rice buffet.

It was rained heavily on our way back to Penang. Back home, I played with QY for a while before we call it a day for Saturday. Games that we usually play are rather childish ~ I tickle her and she tickle me back and both of us laugh heartedly; Doctor and patient game (she act as doctor and I’ll be the patient and vice versa) ; we do cat walk from living hall to bedroom; Story telling time; Coloring time and a lot more. Just love to hear her laughter, see her cheeky face and also ‘tua mah’ act. These are all the precious and sweet moment we spend together while at home. Daddy is never a good play mate to her, he plays another serious role ~ bad guy in nurturing our child.

Just before we proceed to the bedroom, out of the blue she said : ‘Mommy, wait… I take photo for the light first…” Below is the photo shoot by her on the light hang on our living hall ceiling… She start to show her early talent in photographing?

On Sunday, I was away for whole day training so Daddy and in-laws help to take care of her. As today is Father’s day, my brother proposed to have a steamboat dinner at home for Father’s day celebration. My dad is a rather conservative man, if to used an object to describe my feeling towards him, I will certainly draw a big tree. Yes, deep inside my heart since young, he is our大 樹 (big tree). We always feel secure, safe and protected under his arm.

Look forward for next weekend as we have planned a 3D/2N trip to KL and Genting Highland… Hooray…
